A serendipitous petrol cap ...

I started this piece some time ago (not long after my class with Michael deMeng) but could not find what I wanted for the bottom section. As I rode in my Dad's truck on Monday I spotted an old style petrol cap at my feet - Dad had found it on the side of the road. He has quite a collection of these; 'just in case I lose one'; fortunately this one was given up willing. As to the message of this piece - make of it what you will - if we meet one day I will tell you a story. A story of birthing a cow ... and the afterbirth days later. I will tell how it, and other events, led to my vegetarianism, for now the shrine tells its own tale.

This is a great piece Julie. Hopefully we'll meet up again in Melb next year and I can look forward to hearing your stories (but I think some detail could be left out for a city folk like me!) Ux

This is a fabulous piece Julie, Michael would be proud of you I'm sure. I love the cow, but I also like the occasional piece of red meat so I'm not sure if I want to hear the story.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I have enjoyed looking at your work. It looks like we are into a lot of the same things. I am envious of your class with Michael de Meng and the assemblage is wonderful. Which charm exchange group are you in? I am a member of ICE.
I will be checking back to see what wonderful things you are up to.

A great piece Julie, love what you've done with the spikey thing we saw before! I'm with Ro, don't know if I want to hear the cow story...lol. But fascination may overcome at stampcamp in a few weeks time and I may NEED to know! lol

This is another beautiful assemblage Julie. Love how you have used one of your dad's treasures in it.
Not sure I want to know the cow story either as I am a meat eater. But like Kelsey might need to know at camp too!!

OMG Julie, you are just so multi-faceted. This is an amazing use of found objects, especially from your dad. Now of course you have my curiosity peeked regarding the cow story. lol!

that is great how the piece appeared for you to complete your work, which i like very much.
about the cow and being vegetarian...being in brazil's open market and seeing animal flesh hanging and smelling there further confirmed my being vegetarian.

I just found you over at kelly raes in the comment section. Being a bit of a nosey one, can't help myself sometimes.
I love what you did with the petrol cap. Talk about unique. I will be visiting again.
I'm new and a work in progress but come say hello sometime.

Guess what? I am signed up to take a one day class with Michael DeMeng in June. I'm really excited but just a bit nervous as this is out of my normal art zone. You've inspired me for sure!
XOXO

I love the assemblage, and also your charms, and also your ATC's, and also your ATP's...you certainly are very artistic. I tend to get in a rut, and stuck to one thing.
I would love to have the opportunity to take a Michael DeMeng class.
