Stumbling Blocks and a Giveaway

I have really struggled to create since the art retreat, a combination of too many other things to do and some hang-ups. Everything I started seemed to be a copy, I was lost in technique and have not been able to get my ideas to flow. Finally this week I sat down to play and the pendants above emerged, beautiful beads with simple sterling silver joins. They had no purpose other than play so I have given them one, a give-away. Just leave a comment and one of them may be yours - I will use a random selection method and do the draw on Sunday 26th April.
These memory wire bracelets were a lot of fun to make; I have such a lot of beautiful beads that don't work with my vintage/grunge/earthy styles, and spend way too long just looking at them. The bracelets will appear on my Etsy very soon. If you are in my Etsy store you will find some fantastic sale items as I am having a clean out.

I can't seem to capture the translucent nature of the paint on this canvas or the many layers, but never mind, it was a piece I enjoyed making, a piece where I learnt a lot about product and planning ahead.
Despite the fact we have a multitude of pet baskets and comfy chairs, for Charles to rest in, he has made some interesting choices this past week; the box I was dropping work into as I marked and then the shelf. I know, I should have scooped him off and growled, but it was too cute I ran for the camera instead. Don't you love how he is pretending not to see me?

oh oh oh, pick me......I love your work, you know that though. Sorry I missed you, it would have been nice to catch up. You would never believe that Charles was the same cat as last year....

Charles probably thinks "If I ignore her she'll go away".
I would love to be in your giveaway Julie.

The pendants are both beautiful - I would love to have one.

I wore a pair of earrings (blue birds with silver nests) yesterday which I bought from you and I got tons of compliments - thought you might like to know :)

As for the whole cat bed issue, I think this is a related phenomenon to the fact that you can buy kids lots of interesting toys and they still want to play with large cardboard boxes...

Beautiful pendants Julie! April 26th is a special day for me, it would've been Joan's 50th birthday and her and Michael's 25th wedding anniversary. She'll still be turning 50 though! Joan will continue to age along with me. ;-)

I found your blog via misty's. I know how you feel. After I went to my first art and soul retreat I came home copying everybody it seemed. You don't mean to it just happens. That's when I turn some music on and shut out the world and let my hands flow.

Fooey - I had just written a long comment and Blogger ' ate' it!

So much to comment on in this post Julie. I love the necklaces you have created (especially the orange one on the left). You are very generous to do a give away. I feel a bit guilty putting my name down for the give away as I own several of your beautiful pieces of jewellery already but I will anyways :)

Your memory bracelets are stunning (you always use such lovely beads). And that canvas looks delicious. I know you put a lot of work into your art and that this must have many, many layers.

And of course I adore the photo's of Charles. Smiled at the one of him on the shelf ; with his handsome face turned away from you.

Ronnie and Essie send their love. And so do I.

Dotee xoxo

Hello, Julie -- thank you so much for visiting The Marmelade Gypsy. I love all the beautiful art you have posted -- you are so very gifted! But this post resonated with me the most.

I saw your piece with the coppery canvas/figures/cat on (I believe) Janet's blog and was impressed with the work and the technique. But all your art seems to reflect that.

And this post touched me in particular as well because Charles appears to be a slightly longer-haired, fluffier version of my dear (and alas, departed cat) Stimpy, who was the light of my heart. So, when I see ginger and white (as well as Gypsy's ginger!), my heart melts!

I intend to return!
